My Little Chinese Baby

Whenever I'm holding Evie, she's usually pretty tight-lipped.  She'll coo and babble to Jennie, or to her Pappy, but she's not much for talking to her old man.  This morning, though, before going to work, we had a little breakthrough.

Jennie and I don't have cable yet, so we have to watch movies whenever we want to watch something.  Luckily, we have lots of movies.  So this morning, as I was giving Evie her breakfast, I decided on a whim to put in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.  I sure do like the kung-fu.

Anyway, the subtitles weren't working, so we were left listening to the Chinese conversations.  I started repeating what the characters were saying to Evie, or at least speaking in Chinese-sounding gibberish, and she smiled and babbled back.  So it turns out all this time my little girl CAN talk.  It's just not English.

Well, if anyone needs me, I'll be binding her feet so that she can find a suitable husband.

Mailbox

I have a sneaking suspicion that I don't get any mail at work because my mailbox is at the very top of the shelf, which is a bit hard to reach even for a man of my stature.  Either that, or gremlins are intercepting my mail.

Again.
